Amazing Grace
APRIL 25-26 & MAY 3, 2009
Our 50th Anniversary Season closes with a bold and beautiful musical trip from Appalachia to the Great Plains with a little bit of Americana — including shapenotes, spirituals, and hymns. The concerts feature such Southern gospel favorites as “I Saw the Light,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Angel Band,” as well as several renditions of “Amazing Grace.” Special guests include composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo and the 2008 Arizona Bluegrass Band Champs, Fire Ridge.

One of our founders, Dr. Hal Pittman, is a descendant of the creator of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” the Reverend John Newton. And these concerts are a tribute to Dr. Pittman and his wife and Phoenix Chorale co-founder, Dr. Timona Pittman.
