SPECIAL EVENT: June 9, 2012 – 8:00 pm
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) present the world premiere of “In Teaching Others We Teach Ourselves,” a new work by New York-based composer Judd Greenstein. This new work was commissioned by the Scottsdale Center and SMoCA and was written for string quartet and violist Nadia Sirota.
The concert also features the Phoenix Chorale, led by Artistic Director Charles Bruffy, performing a selection of Judd Greenstein’s choral works including Amergin (winner of the 2010 Trinity Composition Competition) and Lamenting.
This special event is the culmination of twelve months of creative work by artist collective New Catalogue and is presented in conjunction with their exhibit at SMoCA: This is a Present from a Small Distant World on view June 9 – October 7, 2012. A pre-concert Q&A and tour of this exhibit on June 9 will be held with the curator at 7:15 pm.
