Dr. André J. Thomas, guest conductor

Gathering friends and family together at Christmas is a special joyous time bringing heartwarming memories old and new. Join us when internationally renowned conductor and composer Dr. André J. Thomas leads the Chorale in our festive annual holiday concerts. Dr. Thomas is in demand around the world as a guest conductor and clinician. Previous engagements include the Berlin Radio Choir, Tallahassee Symphony, Netherlands Radio Choir, Czech National Symphony, and World Youth Choirs in China, the Philippines, and in Europe. Recently retired, Dr. Thomas was Director of Choral Activities at Florida State University. Upcoming engagements this season include performances at Carnegie Hall, London Symphony, and the 2020 World Choir Games in Belgium.

Conductor, composer, and clinician, Dr. André J. Thomas’s conducting credits are extensive. Dr. Thomas has been featured as a guest conductor with orchestras and choirs around the world including England’s Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony, China’s People’s Liberation Orchestra, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra; and international choirs including the Berlin Radio Choir and Netherlands Radio Choir. In demand as a clinician and choral adjudicator, Dr. Thomas has worked with World Youth Choirs in the Republic of China, the Philippines, and in Europe. He has worked with Honor and All-State Choirs throughout the United States and in Europe, Asia, New Zealand, and Australia. Dr. Thomas has also distinguished himself as a composer and arranger and his music has been performed by choirs around the world, including the Phoenix Chorale. Recently retired, Dr. Thomas was the Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Choral Music Education at Florida State University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ACDA and he has served as Artistic Director of the Tallahassee Community Chorus since 1988. Upcoming engagements this season include VocalEssence, Charlotte Symphony Chorus, Carnegie Hall with Manhattan Choral Productions, London Symphony, and World Choir Games 2020.
