Phoenix Chorale is committed to providing professional choral singing opportunities for exceptional musicians living in the Greater Phoenix metro area, encompassing Maricopa County and surrounding areas. Part of our mission is to showcase in-State choral excellence, and to nurture and amplify its resonance both within Arizona, across the US and beyond. We pride ourselves in creating spellbinding, innovative performances both acappella and with instrumental accompaniment, approaching repertoire from 1500 to the present day within the context of storytelling and communication of the profound rhetoric of poets and composers.
If you are interested in singing with the Phoenix Chorale, we welcome your application which should initially be in the form of an email to Assistant Conductor Tom Peterson — tom@phoenixchorale.org which should include:
To be considered for the 2025-26 season, please submit all application materials by January 24, 2025.
Singers may be considered for all regular concert series as well as special projects where an augmented number is required. The Chorale auditions even when no full positions within the 24-strong regular ensemble are available, regularly adds singers to our wider roster. Many such roster singers are engaged on an ad hoc basis as a form of organizational training and experience but move into full positions later on.
Phoenix Chorale embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We encourage applicants of all genders, ethnicities, faiths, and backgrounds. If you have the ability to raise your voice in song, and the musicianship to be fully prepared with the score and notes learned before first rehearsal, we want to hear it. We recognize that the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be and the more meaningful our contribution to the choral narrative of Arizona, the United States, and beyond.
Successful applicants will be invited to take part in a choral audition session where you will sing with other singers within a quartet scenario. This is in effort to get to know your choral musicianship, listening skills, and adaptability.
Phoenix Chorale is one of North America’s longest-lived, critically acclaimed and highly renowned professional choral ensembles. Since its founding in 1958, the ensemble has combined the highest standards of musicianship with a warm sound that instills a sense of place and belonging – in singers and patrons alike. We are proud to nurture our singers and foster meaningful collaborations with other musicians, ensembles and educational institutions in order to build community through song, and we welcome individuals who share these values and goals to apply to join us.
If you are interested in submitting scores to the Phoenix Chorale for consideration, please send the following: score, sample recording and your bio. Materials should be sent by email to info@phoenixchorale.org.
We will notify composers whose works have been selected to be performed.
The Phoenix Chorale is seeking volunteers to usher at concerts throughout the season. Ushering responsibilities can range from ticket-taking to handing out programs, greeting patrons, or helping in the Box Office.
If you are interested in volunteering at one of our concerts, please send an email to volunteer@phoenixchorale.org or call the Phoenix Chorale office at 602-253-2224.
