| Phoenix, AZ – The Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale, under the direction of Christopher Gabbitas, proudly announces the release of their highly anticipated new album, Sun Moon Stars Rain, available on February 7, 2025 via Signum Records. The album will be available for streaming and purchase on all major platforms.
Following The Christmas Album, their acclaimed 2023 debut with Signum Records”Expertly Blended” (Gramophone), “Enviable smoothness and sumptuosity of tone” (BBC Music Magazine, 4****) the Phoenix Chorale continues its exploration of evocative choral music with Sun Moon Stars Rain. This collection of vocal works draws inspiration from the celestial and elemental forces that have shaped human culture, beliefs, and artistic expression for centuries.
“This enduring fascination speaks to something fundamental in the human experience – a mix of awe at the natural world, a quest for understanding our place within it, and a recognition of our dependence on forces far greater than ourselves,” says Christopher Gabbitas, Artistic Director of the Phoenix Chorale. “Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Sara Teasdale, and Octavio Paz are among the literary greats who have reflected on these themes, inspiring composers like Sir John Rutter, Toby Hession, and Eric Whitacre, whose works feature in this program.”
Highlighting the album is the premiere of composer Dale Trumbore’s Little you, looking up. The Los Angeles based composer whose music has been called “devastatingly beautiful.” (The Washington Post)
