– and get into the holiday spirit!

(Phoenix, AZ) – The Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale hosts a free open rehearsal during the First Friday Artwalk on Friday, December 3 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The rehearsal features the Phoenix Chorale in preparation for their “Home for the Holidays” concert series running December 16-20 at venues across the Valley.

The musical selections for the “Home for the Holidays” concerts will feature a well-rounded balance of holiday favorites mixed with new and traditional works including two American premieres by English composer Cecilia McDowall titled Cantate, Astra and Of a Rose, Christmas carols from the Colonial American period, Johannes Brahms’s motet Es ist das Heil uns kommen her [The Son of God Is Come to Earth], Kirke Mechem’s Seven Joys of Christmas and more. The open rehearsal will feature some – but not all – of these pieces.

First Friday Free Open Rehearsals offer an opportunity for the public to hear music in the making as the Phoenix Chorale prepares for the next concert series in the Phoenix Chorale season. Get a special behind the scenes look in this very casual, come-and-go as you please atmosphere. First Friday Free Open Rehearsals are a great way to round out your First Friday experience – check out visual art in nearby galleries and stop by and hear and see how musical art is made.

First Friday Free Open Rehearsals are free and open to the public and take place inside Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, located at 100 W. Roosevelt Street along Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. Parking is free at all Phoenix Chorale events; or take the Metro Light Rail to the Roosevelt Arts District stop.

The Phoenix Chorale is regarded as one of the finest professional choral ensembles in the world.  Its recordings have earned a combined total of eight Grammy Award nominations and two wins.  The Chorale is dedicated to the creation and performance of new music, mixed with more traditional concert literature.  For more information about the Phoenix Chorale, visit the website at www.phoenixchorale.org or call 602-253-2224.
