Phoenix Chorale’s 2025|26 Season began even before audiences gathered for the first concert, with the recording of a new album of all-American music in September 2025. The season also marked the appointment of Los Angeles-based composer Jennifer Lucy Cook as Phoenix Chorale’s Composer-in-Residence for the 2025|26 and 2026|27 seasons.
The season officially opened in November 2025 with DRAW ON, SWEET NIGHT, a mostly a cappella program described by audiences as full of “luminous sound and emotional depth.” Drawing inspiration from poetry, verse, and the shifting beauty of dusk and twilight, the repertoire explored themes of romance, reflection, and the many emotions that emerge as day gives way to night.
The Valley’s favorite holiday tradition, A CHORALE CHRISTMAS, returned in December 2025 under the direction of Guest Conductor Dr. Edith Copley, a figure deeply woven into Arizona’s choral legacy. Performances delighted audiences with seasonal favorites, a “Snow-a-Long” audience sing-along, and two sold-out venues. The concert was also rebroadcast on Christmas Eve by Classical Arizona PBS through Arizona Encore♪.
In January 2026, Phoenix Chorale presented TRANSCENDENCE with orchestra at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Featuring 99 performing artists, the program offered a sweeping choral-orchestral experience and welcomed composer Rebecca Dale to Arizona for the United States premiere of her cinematic choral symphony, When Music Sounds.
The season continued in April 2026 with CHANT AND POLYPHONY, presented in collaboration with chant specialists Floriani. Two performances in the reverent setting of Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix, with a special appearance in Tucson at the Cathedral of St. Augustine, explored the rich musical traditions of chant and sacred polyphony in reverent and inspiring settings.
Following the conclusion of the subscription season, Phoenix Chorale presented the special bonus performance BLOOM at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). Curated and conducted by Associate Conductor Tom Peterson, the one-night-only performance featured a “bouquet” of ten Chorale singers in the MIM Music Theater.
Phoenix Chorale 2024|25 Season kicked off October 13, 2024 with a 2-city Special event in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona with DURUFLÉ REQUIEM / MARTIN MASS FOR DOUBLE CHOIR. The Phoenix Chorale was joined by True Concord, the acclaimed Grammy-nominated professional choir from Tucson, to create a powerhouse of exquisite sound. The performance highlighted the new Fisk organ at Camelback Bible Church, a Silberman-style pipe organ that is being installed this fall at Camelback Bible Church which will be played by Dr Jeremy Filsell, Organist and Director of Music at St Thomas Church in Manhattan.
The Valley’s favorite, A CHORALE CHRISTMAS lit up the holidays December 14-17, 2024 with performances at Camelback Bible Church, Brophy Chapel, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and a special appearance at the First United Methodist Church in Mesa. This concert series brought a mix of Christmas and holiday music from across the centuries, as well as a rousing audience sing a long to put everyone in the holiday spirit.
In the second collaboration of the 24/25 season, March 2025 featured a choral-orchestral collaboration with MusicaNova Orchestra for TALES OF LOVE AND MAJESTY. The regal and romantic performances featured the pomp and grandeur of Handel’s Coronation Anthems and Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, paired with a re-discovered Edwardian gem, a love story set in Imperial Japan by British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, A Tale of Old Japan. Both Christopher Gabbitas, Artistic Director of Phoenix Chorale and Warren Cohen, Founder and Music Director of MusicaNova Orchestra, conducted.
The Phoenix Chorale’ season concluded in May 2025 with a celebration of American excellence, reflected in AMERICAN VOICES: MUSIC FROM THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY where we welcomed back LA-based composer Jennifer Lucy Cook to Phoenix as we presented the world premiere of Vista Point, a brand-new choral work commissioned specially for Phoenix Chorale. The commission of Vista Point is generously underwritten by Mary Farrington-Lorch.
